Eric Chung is a rising star with ACESGroup. His career pathway is a great example of how ACES Group management training and mentoring programs not only provide great opportunities, but produce outstanding team members.

In late 2015, as a university student, Eric thought that working as a casual security guard would be a great way to earn a weekend income. From humble beginnings as an event security officer, Eric’s dedication, organisation and security knowledge meant that he was quickly recognised as an integral member of the ACES team.Eric_DEB_1200x900

Eric’s commitment to expanding his skillset through internal training programs helped him to realise new opportunities working as a security ranger across government sites. His leadership skills, technical capability and growing security knowledge then landed Eric high profile roles within Sydney’s busiest control rooms as well as security supervisor positions at major music and sporting events including Midnight Oil, Sia, Big Bash League, A-league and AFL matches at Spotless Stadium.

Eric’s passion for innovation, technology and workplace efficiency was apparent, and after working tirelessly throughout Vivid 2018, Eric was promoted to the role of Technology Manager. It wasn’t long after his introduction to ACESGroup’s growing department of Innovation and Technology that Eric hit the road to attend the Security Exhibition in Melbourne to showcase great technological innovations that ACESGroup has to offer.

Eric’s role now includes being Head of Product for Dynamic Crowd Measurement (DCM). DCM is automated artificial intelligence software that has been developed for informed decision making on crowds. DCM has recently been implemented at major Sydney events and Eric is currently mentoring new team members on the processes and implementation of DCM to service the growing number of clients interested in the ground breaking technology.

Eric is also heavily involved in the introduction of robotic security services to Australia via HelloNimbo. HelloNimbo in partnership with ACESGroup, is the first provider of robotic security services in Australia. The ‘Nimbo’ robot utilises Artificial Intelligence to report on security anomalies in real-time whilst patrolling autonomously. Eric is currently managing the deployment of Nimbo across various venues and recently demonstrated Nimbo at the Security Exhibition in Melbourne.

This November, Eric will be flying to New York to meet with other security experts at the ISC East conference, the Unmanned Security Expo and Info Security North America conferences, where 7000 security and public safety professionals will convene. Eric will have the opportunity to meet with technology specialists and learn about the latest innovations for products covering video surveillance, access control, biometrics, public security and unmanned security. Eric will also attend seminars about increasing situational awareness, incorporating technology with a human workforce, and the use of blockchain strategies.

Eric will be providing us with regular updates during his trip including information on the latest innovations being showcased at ISC East in New York. Keep up to date with Eric’s findings via our company LinkedIn page and at www.acesecurity.com.au, or connect with Eric on LinkedIn.
